Coltyn's Story

Posted by Michelle Finn on

Coltyn's Story was written by his Mom Stephany
Coltyn was born on February 2, 2011, weighing 2.15 lbs. He was a very sick little boy. He spent 3 months in the NICU and had a mile long list worth of struggles. He coded at 7 weeks and was knocking on deaths door, saved by mere seconds!
After 20 months of searching for answers and begging doctors to listen, we finally got a diagnosis. 1p36 Deletion Syndrome. I thank God that of all the possible disabilities, this is the one He gave us because we gained a huge, amazing family and some of my very best friends!
Coltyn is non verbal, has a g tube, SIBs,( Self Injurious Behaviors) lots of meltdowns . He just learned to walk 2 months before he turned 6 and struggles with low muscle tone, but he continues to fight through the obstacles.  His laugh is the best sound I have ever heard! I'm grateful for all he has taught us and look forward to proving more doctors wrong in the years to one!
